Seo In Guk, no doubt, is one of the finest and most versatile actors of K-drama. He’s enriched our drama trove with Reply 1997, Doom At Your Service, Hello Monster, Café Minamdang, and, most recently, Boyfriend on Demand, See You At Work Tomorrow, among many others. In fact, writer Pam Pastor went to his fan meet last Saturday because she continues to relish his role in Shopaholic Louis released in—2016!. Such has been the strong arsenal of this actor built through the years.

So—his BENCH fan meet August 22, One Step Closer with Seo In Guk, at SM MOA Atrium, became a treat of surprises when this Korean oppa did another thing he does best— he sang, and so confidently! A reminder that he is a leading musical artist. In fact, retail visionary and BENCH chairman Ben Chan thought of asking him to be the brand’s ambassador after he was impressed with Seo In Guk’s performance in the musical Count of Montecristo in Seoul recently. Chan was all praise for his singing.

Fans packed the atrium standing, a few coming from as far south as Laguna, Batangas, Cavite, or as far north as Cabanatuan. Seo In Guk didn’t disappoint them. He strode onstage singing, and ended the fan meet also with a song, the iconic All for You, the OST of Reply 1997. The fans sang along with him throughout the fan meet—reminder, this is the Philippines, the unbeatable karaoke capital of the world!

The Korean oppa engaged the audience in the game portions—doing the Tagalog tongue-twister (Sinangag, Sinigang, Sisig, Seo In Guk!), playacting with the lucky fans (locking gaze spoofing Café Minamdang), for instance, to screams of the crowd. It became obvious to us how this veteran actor was so quick in picking up lines and breaking into a song a capella.

Now that was Seo In Guk on demand—a rare day the sun shone in Metro Manila.
