Franck Muller presents The Art of Time, a limited edition created in collaboration with Mexican artist Amador Montes. This creation brings together the identity of the Swiss watchmaker and the creative universe of the Oaxacan artist. Based on the iconic Vanguard, the collection incorporates elements characteristic of Montes’ work, offering an artistic interpretation of one of the brand’s most recognizable designs.

Mexican artist Amador Montes

With more than 25 years of experience, Mexican visual artist Amador Montes has become a recognized figure in the country’s creative scene. He has held more than 130 exhibitions across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Through this collaboration, his distinctive artistic language meets Franck Muller’s watchmaking expertise, creating a unique dialogue between contemporary art and refine watchmaking.

For this collaboration, Montes brought some of the most representative elements of his work to the dial. One notable motif is the crane fly, a recurring figure in his visual universe; its wings inspired the design of the hands. The camel-colored dial, with a micro-blasted finish, features illustrations and personal references from the artist, while the pink crown introduces one of the distinctive colors in his work. The result preserves the identity of the Vanguard while introducing an aesthetic concept developed especially for this edition.

The Vanguard Slim Amador Montes is equipped with an in-house MVT FM 708 movement composed of 136 components. Its self-winding mechanism draws energy from the natural motion of the wrist, ensuring precise timekeeping through an intricate assembly of mechanical components. This movement brings Franck Muller’s watchmaking expertise to the artistic collaboration with Montes.

A special presentation box, designed by Amador Montes, extends the artist’s visual language to both its exterior and interior, completing this exclusive expression of art and watchmaking.

The Vanguard is Franck Muller’s emblematic tonneau shape, celebrated for its bold and avant-garde aesthetic. Defined by its unique curves, it offers a dynamic blend of elegance and sportiness, with a design that ensures exceptional comfort on the wrist. Its flowing contours and meticulous craftsmanship reflect the brand’s dedication to innovation and sophistication, resulting in a truly extraordinary case.

Precise timekeeping is ensured by the natural movement of the wrist.

Crafted from a solid block of 18K rose gold, this case radiates an unmistakable warm glow and refined elegance. Known for its fundamental value and its beauty, the rose gold case embodies uniqueness and sophistication in every detail.

Each side of the case is adorned with caramel inserts, adding a touch of personality and offering a refreshing burst of color that complements the architectural lines of the timepiece, making it a perfect blend of elegance and boldness.

Instead of the traditional spring-bar technique, this strap is seamlessly integrated into the case using two unseen screws, creating a smooth transition between the strap and the case. It is further enhanced by meticulous stitching along its edges, contributing to both its durability and refined appearance. This thoughtful combination of finishes and craftsmanship ensures that the integrated strap is as comfortable to wear as it is captivating to behold.

From its movements to its cases and dials, every masterpiece is designed, crafted, and assembled at Watchland manufacture in Genthod, Switzerland by exceptional engineers and master watchmakers.
