(Wednesday night, December 18, social media and group chats burst out with the update that JK, the youngest of the BTS, was doing livestream on Weverse, given permission to take a break from his duties in the South Korean military. In 10 minutes after he started, the Weverse Live drew over 2M views. Two and a half hours later, when JK ended his livestream, the total views surpassed 20 million, and over 200 million engagement—arguably among the highest on record by a celebrity, the previous being more than 22 million, also a JK livestream.
Oh, and before we forget—it surpassed the last Grammy Award show numbers; remember this award-giving body?).
Clearly, when BTS connect, millions of people around the globe connect back—in minutes.
Why? Here’s the experience:)
I always try to catch the WV Live that each member does but because I need translations, I find myself staying longer whenever Jung Kook goes live.
Jungkook’s recent live (20.2M) drew more viewers than the recent Oscars (19.5M), Grammys (16.9M), Golden Globes (10M) and VMAs (4M) events. pic.twitter.com/yIgkSSqOSJ

Fun Fact: JUNGKOOK’s surprise livestream smashes records, drawing over 20.2 MILLION real-time viewers in under three hours on Weverse, surpassing even the viewership of the last Grammy Awards ceremony (16.9m)! pic.twitter.com/SznmJlJjWB

Jung Kook always finds something interesting to do to engage with ARMY.
Jung Kook would sing—a lot, He also did a cooking demo of a simple ramen recipe. Once, he shared his thoughts while folding his laundry, and there was that one time when it seemed as if the world had been made to watch him sleep. I figured that he could go on and on for hours—sometimes watching him is like watching the World Cup, no one really knows when he will hit a goal!
By the time I’d listened to all the songs from Golden, he had already entered the military. When I realized that Jung Kook was Live last night, I was curious—what would it be this time?
His house tour—when he showed us around his house during the WV Live—was amusing just because he had to show his bar with lots and lots of glasses.
“Karaoke Night” highlight were the following winning (for me) songs he sang—Bruno Mars’ Die with a Smile, Too Sad to Dance, Hate You, Queen of Tears OST, and Standing Next to You. The biggest surprise, to me, was the giant remote control!
Looking forward to his next Live hoping that he would sing Jin’s Running Wild, Jimin’s Who, V’s Slow Dancing, and the other members’ songs that he promised he would practice. An appearance of Bam would be a great bonus!
More than 20M enjoyed another WV Live with JK. What an ARMY night in winter!
