Qualified working professionals and industry practitioners can now pursue academic degrees in photography and theater arts without traditional schooling through the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) offered by the De La-Salle College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB).

Since 2004, the college has made ETEEAP available as an alternative learning system which allows individuals to earn a bachelor’s degree through an assessment process which credits prior knowledge and skills obtained from relevant work experiences or formal, non-formal, and informal training methods.

The two programs were recently added to the institution’s roster of undergraduate degrees deputized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Benilde was recently conferred formal recognition by CHED as one of the nine private Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) which continuously render distinguished service to lifelong learning and inclusive education.

“The program recognizes that learning takes place not only in the classroom, but also in the workplace and through professional practice,” said Melbourne Piccio, head of the Center for Lifelong Learning and Innovative Programs and Benilde ETEEAP coordinator. “Through portfolio development, validation activities, mentorship, and faculty guidance, candidates are able to bridge practical experience with academic frameworks.”

The Bachelor of Arts in Photography course is ideal for professional photographers who strive to acquire tertiary-level credentials by cultivating their expertise in the field and other related creative industries such as journalism, media, fashion, advertising, commercial business, visual arts, and digital content creation.

Through this program under the School of New Media Arts, ETEEAP candidates can formalize and enhance their competencies while gaining a deeper understanding of the theoretical, technical, and artistic foundations of the discipline.

Aside from professional photographers, it is tailored for practitioners, such as photojournalists, studio owners and managers, multimedia practitioners, content creators and digital storytellers, advertising and marketing professionals, visual artists, and creative entrepreneurs with extensive work history in photography-related fields.
