AWARE mourns death of PNoy

‘I am Filipino and proud of it’

We mourn the passing of former President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, who wanted to be simply called  PNoy by his fellow Filipinos.  That marked the simplicity and humility of the man—the President who governed with integrity from 2010-2016.  Under his leadership, we were able to face the world with our heads held high and declare that, “I am Filipino and proud of it.”

With our sudden loss, we acutely feel the need for the kind of leadership he exemplified— honest,  transparent, transformational,  and  true to the oath he took when he was sworn in as President, that he “will faithfully and conscientiously fulfill his duties; preserve and defend the Constitution; execute its laws; do justice to every man, and consecrate himself to the service of the Nation.”

We pray for PNoy and the Aquino family, to whom we extend our deepest condolences.
