BTS: Can’t ‘make some noise!’ So ‘make some hands!’

A first, SM Cinema screens BTS Seoul concert live

The world must really be opening up—BTS is holding an in-person concert in Seoul, Korea, its first since 2019. But also much awaited is another first—the live global viewing of this concert in theaters worldwide.

BTS Permission to Dance On Stage–Seoul: Live Viewing will be viewed exclusively at SM Cinemas (in 36 branches) on March 12, 5 p.m.  People worldwide will join in as—as the BTS members love to say in their recent VLive chats—BTS and ARMY become one again in music and dance.

Tickets for the theater viewing went on sale in the Philippines last February 24 at 10 a.m. but reportedly sold out fast. Signing up is encouraged for updates regarding tickets, participating SM Cinema branches, and more information at the official website. Tickets are available via www.smcinema.com. Download the SM Cinema mobile app for more information.

The past weeks, BTS themselves—RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook—have been taking turns chatting with ARMYs on VLive about the concert and basically how they were doing. They always talked about how this forthcoming concert must follow some protocols because of the pandemic—the in-person audience in Seoul isn’t allowed to shout, sing or stand. This makes them so sad, they said, because they draw their energy from the audience. While they will see the audience’s eyes, they will not hear their voices. The audience is allowed only to clap.

In another VLive chat, V and Jin talked about how they went through COVID. “Like having broken glass in your throat,” V recalled the time he was sick.

In his solo VLive chat, Suga was told by a fan how tough and stressful it was to get tickets—like “the alternative is death.” Suga, with his trademark deadpan expression, merely replied: “There’s online.”
