Studio Dimensione, home of high-quality interior and architectural finishing products, is holding its semi-annual sale of all its prestigious brands, ongoing until May 31. It is the design furniture arm of Dimensione, and is a one-stop shop and design hub where you can find everything you will need for your home, whether it be from classic or heritage pieces to avant-garde and minimalist designs. Studio Dimensione has been in business for over nine years now, and is exclusive distributor of designer furniture brands from Europe such as Arper, Foscarini, Fritz Hansen, MDF Italia, and Viabizzuno.
Dimensione is the country’s pioneer lifestyle furniture store offering a wide selection of furniture and accessories for homes, offices, and public spaces. Modern, elegant and functional, the pieces are for the sophisticated, well-travelled, urban-minded shopper.
Dimensione started in 1976, originally a single proprietorship business owned and operated by Mr. Ben Chan. In July 1997, the single proprietorship was incorporated into a company known as Forte Showroom Corporation.
Here are some of the brands carried by this design institution:
Founded in Denmark in 1872, Fritz Hansen is a global leader in furniture, lighting, and accessory design and production. Driven by a passion for beauty, quality, and craftsmanship, the company embodies a modern, Nordic lifestyle and collaborates with visionary artists, designers, and architects from around the world.
The brand has collaborated with Arne Jacobsen, Cecilie Manz, Hans J. Wegner, Piero Lissoni, and Poul Kjærholm, among others. Today Fritz Hansen designs are sold in more than 85 countries through 2,000 points of sale, including flagship stores in Copenhagen, San Francisco, Milan, and Tokyo. Their motto: “We focus on the key pieces of furniture for the home: A place to eat, rest, sleep, and work.”
A newly-acquired brand at Dimensione, De La Espada works closely with carefully selected international design partners. The De La Espada product range reflects the diversity of the collaborators as well as a unifying approach to materiality, craft, functionality, and longevity. From the designer to the craftsperson, there is pride in work well done, in rising to challenges and getting every detail right. De La Espada products are imbued with warmth and meaning brought by the hands that bear them.
De La Espada was founded in 1993 by Luis De Oliveira and Fatima De La Espada. Hailing from Porto and Madrid respectively and educated in London, the founders opened the first De La Espada store in London in 1996, when there was comparatively little quality contemporary furniture in the city. The De La Espada aesthetic evolved from influences including the Arts and Crafts movement, architects such as Tadao Ando, Luis Barragán, John Pawson, and Álvaro Siza, and Scandinavian design from the 1950s.
Arper is a fast-growing company founded in 1989—a family business guided by an integrative, human-centered approach. They have grown from a furniture manufacturing business to an international design presence, dramatically increasing turnover and adding hundreds of new employees to the Arper family.
Arper creates chairs, tables, and furnishings for community, work, and home. They are motivated by relationships: between products and spaces, spaces and people, people and their networks. They frame everything—soft, essential design sensibility, direct and personalized service, organizational and corporate policies, global brand identity—in terms of human values.
MDF Italia is a Milan-based design company manufacturing furniture, which was fully acquired in 2013 by the holding group of the Cassina family, a long- standing leader in Italian design.
From the year of its foundation in 1992, MDF Italia has proposed a dynamic business vision that puts design at the centre, promoting the designers who imagine it and the workers who create it.
The company collaborates with international designers to meet contemporary needs for functionality and customization, while maintaining its distinctive style features: lightness, wonder, and challenge, both in the study of shapes and in the use of materials. MDF Italia offers a range of products with a strong impact on domestic landscapes, in shared public areas and in workplaces, destined to last in any time and place, thus proving that they have strong ideas and the ability to develop them.
From the creative vision of Liu Jo, another new brand at Dimensione, was born the custom-made living room. Craftsmanship, versatility, style, and sustainability come together to enter the world of home and transform the furniture. Liujo’s living collection is a declaration of intent: new forms and customizable materials open the space to new reading keys and give life to unique pieces.
Recognizable and iconographic in ideas, shape and finish, the pieces of furniture by Liu Jo find their reason for being in contrast: Structures and rigid elements are designed to contain and embrace curves and movements, enhancing personal style and easily changing position and function.
Yet another newly acquired brand, Punt Mobles was founded in 1980 by the Valencian designer Vicent Martínez, together with designer Lola Castelló. “The first stage of Punt Mobles was pure passion for design,” reads the brand’s statement. “It was a vital project and somehow somewhat thoughtless. This first stage must be placed in a historical context—young designers, who became entrepreneurs, without ceasing to be designers, in a Valencian society, where design was neither understood nor valued, except by a sensitive minority.
“With our expertise, know-how, and the artisan workmanship, we generate, together with design, sculptural pieces. That is why we speak of Art in Design, of treating design as if it were a sculpture, thinking in the details, in the combination of materials and in generating products where artisan workmanship and know-how is always reflected in each piece.”
In 1997, Punt was awarded the National Design Award. The company was booming at that time. At this stage, it has grown and has repositioned itself in the international design imaginary, placing itself in the high-end design segment, while remaining anchored in the philosophy of good design and contemporary craftsmanship.
Menu has always been fascinated by the way in which individuals and spaces can be united through great design. In their pursuit to craft furniture, lighting and interior accessories shaped by purposeful details, high-quality materials and human needs, they create strongly, believing in modern design built to last. Each piece is produced with the assumption that it will get plenty of use, whether in a busy family room or a high-traffic workplace canteen. Regardless of whether you are a contract buyer or a private customer, this translates into certainty that your chosen design has been tested to meet your most demanding use scenarios. Certain materials will develop a particular finish over time, transforming to reveal a new dimension of intriguing effects. This emotional durability helps to create a deeper bond between you and our products.
Established in 1911, Fredericia is a family owned design company that creates modern originals crafted to last. Renowned design masters Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner, and Nanna Ditzel helped establish the design and craftsmanship institution that Fredericia is today. Learn more about the three masters and all the details and thoughts behind the many beloved pieces. It is of great importance that the things we purchase and live with do not need to be changed, but instead grow old with dignity and charm.
At Gloster, another new Dimensione brand, the company opens doors to timelessly beautiful exteriors where your furniture sets the mood, just the way you want it to be. And they take the long view, using only the very best materials and techniques available. The aim is your pleasure—items to be enjoyed in countless special moments outdoors.
Gloster’s roots can be traced all the way back to West Africa in 1960, where a band of passionate entrepreneurs and furniture makers took the first steps on a long journey. By the late 1980’s, increased demand and access to plantation grown teak led them to move their factory to Indonesia.
Dux Beds are result of nine decades of research and testing and use technology based on an encyclopedic understanding of sleep mechanics. Through the years, the company has collaborated with leading sleep scientists, gaining an extensive knowledge of sleep—and the importance of a good night’s sleep to good health.
In 1924, the Swedish chocolate maker Efraim Ljung checked into a small hotel in Chicago and was fascinated by how comfortable the bed was. Using a small pocketknife, he carefully cut open the mattress to discover flexible springs inside.
Excellent Italian marble and design are hallmarks of new Dimensione brand Lenzi, which interprets the new trends of contemporary design through 50 years of experience in the craftsmanship of marble. It is a brand, a family, a long tradition of marble working experience.
From the heart of the Italian marble region in Tuscany, Lenzi has been producing marble tables and accessories for more than 50 years with a view to giving lightness, brightness and inspired design to a marvelous and unique material.
Viabizzuno is the name of the main road of Bizzuno, a small village located in the province of Ravenna, where Mario Nanni was born in 1955.
Viabizzuno, the light factory, is a company that, since 1994, has been bringing together experience, knowledge, and research to best express its way of working with light. Viabizzuno has made design its credo, its work, its mission: to design, from the Latin ‘’projectare,” ‘’to throw forward,’’ a way of being, of thinking, of acting.
Viabizzuno Casa in Bentivoglio, Bologna is the place where everyday, the company designs new lighting systems to face any lighting requirements. Viabizzuno designs, produces, researches, and innovates with craftsmanship; they work with designers from any part of the world, but absolutely trust in principle their own artisans: The products must be 100 percent manufactured in Italy.
Foscarini imagines, develops, and produces decorative lamps. Night and day, whether they’re on or off, they seduce, surprise, and inspire.
Foscarini lights are conceived as design objects that transform spaces. They bring beauty, stir emotions. Foscarini designs with an independence from any production constraints, which translates into freedom of ideas.
The company’s 35 years of collaborations with international designers and mastery of lighting have resulted in a long list of design icons integrated into domestic or collective environments globally. One constant through their history has been their rigor and passion for each project.
Occhio is fascinated with making people become the lighting designers of their own living spaces and giving them quality of life through light.
