Award-winning Filipino fashion designer Happy Andrada celebrated her 25th anniversary in fashion with a special runway presentation on October 17 at the Globe Auditorium, BGC Arts Center, as part of Pinoy Playlist Musikahan 2026. The show was directed by Raymund Ramirez Seranillo.

The CompanY

The show featured 25 creations from her archives alongside a new collection, brought to life through special musical performances by The CompanY, one of the country’s most celebrated vocal harmony groups, and Anima Tierra, whose music added another artistic dimension to the celebration.

Andrada was selected as the sole fashion designer of this year’s festival, which the Bonifacio Art Foundation stages across three performance spaces at the BGC Arts Center. The festival is curated by National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab with Moy Ortiz, Noel Ferrer, and Maria Isabel Garcia, and is known as the country’s widest celebration of original Filipino music across genres and generations.

The 25 archival pieces trace the milestones of Andrada’s career, among them the collections she has presented in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Tokyo, and Seoul, brought together on one runway for the first time. Shown alongside them was her latest collection, which pairs traditional Philippine weaves with touches of funk and disco, fun and timeless by her own description, and mixing textiles from different regions within a single look as a symbol of unity.

As for the footwear worn with the collections on the runway, Andrada chose Skechers. “It’s stylish, comfortable, and perfect for all ages, from Gen Z to older adults,” she said. “I love how they combine fashion and function. Skechers has really been a pioneer in comfort technology, proving that you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style!”

Known for her avant-garde aesthetic, innovative silhouettes, and artistic approach, Andrada has received recognition through fashion competitions and creative collaborations throughout her career. Her designs celebrate Filipino heritage through a contemporary perspective, incorporating traditional textiles such as binakol, Yakan, T’nalak, pis siyabit, inaul, piña, and inabel, combined with intricate embroidery, beadwork and experimental techniques, sourced from Filipino weaving communities.

Among her recent achievements are her collaboration with Fundación Sansó, translating the artworks of Juvenal Sansó into wearable art, and her participation in the Youngwol Fashion Art Biennale in South Korea, highlighting Filipino creativity on an international stage.

The event was presented with the support of Skechers, Ascott BGC, and Laura Mercier, with accessories by Farah Abu and Zarah Juan. Reflecting on her milestone, Andrada said, “Twenty-five years in fashion has been an incredible journey. I’m grateful for every opportunity, every

Collaboration, and everyone who has supported me along the way. I have always loved experimenting, creating something different, and celebrating our beautiful Filipino craftsmanship. This milestone is not just about looking back, but also about embracing everything that lies ahead.”
