León Gallery partners with Biyaya Animal Care Foundation for charity exhibition/sale

León Gallery and Biyaya Animal Care Foundation, Inc. (BACFI) present Art Fur All Kinds, a week-long art exhibition and sale that brings together the art world and the animal welfare community around a shared goal. 

Guided by the theme “Compassion Has an Address,” Art Fur All Kinds features nearly 80 artworks from 65 esteemed Filipino artists, each generously donating their work to the cause. Up to 100% of the proceeds will be donated directly to the Bahay Biyaya capital campaign. Featured artists include Alfredo Aquilizan and Isabel Aquilizan, Annie Cabigting, Geraldine Javier, Kawayan de Guia, Manuel Ocampo, Maria Taniguchi, Mariano Ching, Raffy Napay, Rodel Tapaya, Winnie Go, Wire Tuazon, and Yasmin Sison.

Led by its co-founder and president, Rina Ortiz, the Biyaya Animal Care Foundation is a Philippine non-profit organization that promotes animal welfare as fundamental to community health. BACFI works with LGUs, animal welfare organizations, and volunteers to advance humane animal population management, accessible veterinary services, anti-rabies vaccination, responsible animal guardianship education, rescue and shelter care, and adoption and rehoming, among others. 

“Compassion has always existed, and now we’re giving it an address,” said the Biyaya Animal Care Foundation. Bahay Biyaya is a permanent home and headquarters for animal welfare—not simply another shelter, but a place where compassion becomes daily, tangible action. It is where prevention, treatment, education, training, adoption, and community work can finally take root and grow.

This undertaking was made possible through the generosity of León Gallery, which joins a community of artists, donors, volunteers, veterinarians, and animal welfare advocates in building the Bahay Biyaya. This will become the first infrastructure of its kind for the Biyaya Animal Care Foundation.

The Bahay Biyaya will become an enduring reminder that compassion and care for animals are not seasonal activities; they are our lasting commitment as stewards of this world, our home.

León Gallery has held several charity auctions, not only to promote our rich cultural heritage and history but also  to give back to the community, the Filipino people. Recently, the gallery partnered with MovEd (Molding Optimism and Values Thru Education) to auction several artworks by leadinf artists, including Anita Magsaysay-Ho, to support the organization’s aim of providing early childhood education and development programs to children and their families in underserved communities. 

Other notable charity ventures by León Gallery include its annual auctions in partnership with the Asian Cultural Council for the benefit of arts practitioners who are willing to study and train abroad; Pinta ng Pag-Asa, a 2025 benefit auction of artworks by former and current persons deprived of liberty; and special sections in several auctions for the benefit of the International School Manila’s Filipino Scholars Program.

Now, León Gallery says it is time to give our “furry friends” and “fur babies” the spotlight—and care—they truly deserve. 

“Filipinos are very much known for their love and compassion for animals,” León Gallery director Jaime Ponce de Leon said. “Our history has shown that we have always held animals in high regard, especially during pre-colonial times when our ancestors revered and venerated them as great forces of nature. Even today, we treat our pet animals as our very own family members, and family is the most important in our lives.”

He noted, “Joining these benevolent ventures allows us to give back to the community. Dedicating ourselves to kindness and compassion for both humans and animals restores our faith in our shared humanity. Knowing and doing our social responsibility gives us the chance to move forward.”

The opening reception of Art Fur All Kinds is on September 21, Monday, at León Gallery, Eurovilla 1, Rufino corner Legazpi Streets, Legazpi Village, Makati City.
