When an architect/photographer and a designer/entrepreneur unite in marriage, the union becomes a design masterpiece, and the design becomes a language of love.

Such was the wedding of Marc Henrich Go and Janel Adrianne Dihiansan at Shangri-La Mactan Cebu Feb. 28, 2026, a good three months ago yet whose story continues to be talked about and remains relevant to kin and friends, not only because of the awesome setting the couple designed but more so because of the avowals they made and the stories they and their friends shared at the celebration.

All this could have been done not only given the competencies of the couple—Marc topped the architecture board exams and Janel designs modern elegant jewellery—but more so their commitment to painstaking details, down to how the cake was made to “move.” The wedding became a showcase of their collaboration, which augured well the start of their life-long collaboration, what a lasting marriage is actually.

Elegant blooms, transparent columns, intricate ceiling lights mark the gorgeous setting.

The reception showcased beautifully constructed set, a mirror-like walkway that became a luminous reflection of the lights overheard, a stage that became a play of wonderland lights. Even at a time of elaborate productions, the jaw-drop design of The Marquee at Shangri-La Mactan was one to remember.

How to make it truly memorable and personal for the couple and their family and friends? Make sure the sharing is touching, poignant, funny, and spot-on.
For their wedding vows, Marc said, “Janel, you were everything I prayed for—and even more. Same faith. Same devotion. Same Filipino-Chinese upbringing. Bisaya pa gyud. And the funniest thing? Your dad loves photography and travel, too. I caught myself saying, Lord… grabiha sa specific uy!” (Marc is a leading architecture/landscape photographer who hails from Davao. Janel’s family is based in Cebu.)
For her part, Janel told Marc, “You challenge me in ways I have never been challenged before—and you know I always welcome a good challenge. Thank you for pushing me to pursue my passions, for believing in me fully, and for being present in every step of the journey.”

Thanking his parents, engineer Hinesto and Erlinda Go, Marc said, “From both of you, we learned: Love is sacrificial. Love endures. Love chooses others first.” For her part, Janel told her parents Ruel and Janet Dihiansan, “As I begin this new chapter, I carry with me all the values you’ve instilled in me. I truly got the best of both worlds—a father who modeled humility and grit, and a mother who modeled sacrifice and grace.”

The couple shared a personal gratitude for each of their godparents: Annie Silva Garcia, Dra. Elvira Henares-Esguerra, Ben and Judy Liuson, Jimmy and Susan Thai, Chai Hao, Michael and Anna Lim, Dr. Hayden and Dr. Vicki Belo-Kho, Kenneth Cobonpue, and Budji Layug.
Of Budji, Marc said hilariously, “Only after a month being in the office did I tell my colleague, ‘Sikat pala boss natin, noh?’ In 2016, he told me in Paris, ‘Marc, you know what, knowing me in this season will change your life.’ I thought to myself, ‘Wow…ang yabang naman nito.’ Ten years later—I see it very clearly, you were right.”

The exquisite cake that had its own script

Even the gorgeous, minimalist cake had its own script: “At first glance, it looks very simple.
Just volumes stacked, gradually getting smaller as it rises… But if you look closely…Each layer slightly twists as it goes up. If it were perfectly straight, it would look predictable. Stable—but ordinary. The twists give it character…The twists are what make it beautiful. The same way the twists and turns of life make marriage richer.”
This marriage has been a collaboration of romance and design even long before Marc and Janel said their “I do.”
