My dearest Nedy,
Since the day Mommy left us, you have been my rock, stepping into the role of my mother figure with grace and unwavering strength. Your nurturing and caring nature has provided me comfort during both difficult and joyous times, especially during my health concerns. You were always there for me, standing next to Daddy and helping him take care of me, particularly during my illness in 1994.
Your dedication to our family has been nothing short of inspiring.
The Sunday gang will truly miss you at our weekly Sunday dinners. I promise, though, that I will make my best effort to continue the tradition, just as you did for Daddy. Those dinners were moments when we all bonded and felt the warmth of family.
I will miss your spontaneous calls, asking me to accompany you when Patrick couldn’t. I will miss your invitations to concerts and ballets, or simply your calls saying, “Please join me.”
Your love for your siblings has been a constant source of strength and support. Even with the third and fourth generations, you have always checked on all of them if any was in trouble. Your unwavering dedication to Dad, especially during the lockdown, was remarkable. You spent every lunch and dinner with him, making sure he was never alone.
In the realm of business, your leadership has been instrumental in our family’s success, guiding us with your wisdom and astute business acumen. Your compassion for our employees, some of whom have been with you for over 50 years, reflects your kindness, fairness, and respect for each individual.
I have always admired your unwavering passion for the arts, particularly in music. Your support for opera, the Philharmonic orchestra, and ballet has not only enriched your own life but has also brought joy to countless others in the community. The production of Turandot two years ago, featuring both international and local performers, was a testament to your deep commitment to promoting the arts and fostering cultural exchange. It was an astounding success, and the impact it had on all who attended was evident.
In every aspect of your life, you embody strength, compassion, and grace. Your multifaceted roles as sister, mother figure, patroness of the arts, business leader, and compassionate employer reflect the depth of your character and the profound impact you have had on all of us. Your unwavering love and support have been a source of great strength for our family, and your contributions to the arts and business community have left an indelible mark.
With heartfelt gratitude and love,
Tess
