Bright purple lights are “shining through city with a little funk and soul” this week as Megaworld townships light up to pay tribute to South Korean global pop phenomenon BTS. BTS V coined the greeting: “We ‘purple’ you!” or “Borahae”!
Iconic structures in Megaworld townships in different parts of the country are going purple at night—from the Clock Towers in Capital Town Pampanga and Eastwood City, the Arco de Emperador in Arcovia City, and Venice Grand Canal in McKinley Hill, to the giant dancing fountain of Uptown Bonifacio, and the iconic Casa de Emperador that houses the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art (ILOMOCA) in Iloilo Business Park.
This is in support of the millions of Filipino K-pop fans trooping to McDonald’s stores, including those located in Megaworld townships, for the much-awaited BTS meal.
“The craze over BTS is part of what makes Filipino pop culture very diverse and colorful,” reads a statement from Megaworld. “Even during this time, we are still able to find ways to keep ourselves entertained, and our townships are one in this one-of-a-kind celebration that brings happiness to us all.”
McDonald’s stores based in Megaworld townships have been offering the BTS Meal since Friday, June 18. The meal is McDonald’s newest collaboration with BTS, the seven-man Korean boy band who broke charts, records, streaming views for their universally loved hits like Dynamite, Butter, Life Goes On, and Boy with Luv.
