In The Magnificent September Auction 2026, Leon Gallery, true to its mission, champions all things Filipino: art, culture, heritage, history, and now children education, in partnership with MovEd. To support this cause, works by foremost Filipino artists go on the block Sept. 13, 2026, 2 pm.
‘Women with Christmas Parols,’ Anita Magsaysay-Ho (1914 – 2012)
A portion of this hallmark sale is for the benefit of MovEd (Molding Optimism and Values Thru Education), a non-profit organization founded in 2012, which provides educational and development programs for children and their families in underserved communities.
“As we near our 15th anniversary, it is but fitting to kick it off with the honor of being part of this year’s The Magnificent September Auction 2026,” says MovEd chairwoman and founder, Alexandra Eduque.
MovEd works in partnership with local communities and government units to ensure they create programs that address the needs of each community. Since the opening of its first Learning Lab in November 2012, MovEd has continued its mission to provide early education and care for Filipino children, laying the foundation for a love of learning.
‘Women with Flowers,’ Anita Magsaysay-Ho (1914 – 2012)
Aside from teaching young children to read, write, and do basic arithmetic, teachers impart to them the concepts of perseverance, self-discipline, and conscientiousness. They implement play-based learning activities that foster creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking, ensuring kids have fun while learning.
MovEd also provides an in-class feeding program and physical check-ups to ensure the children are in good health. They offer training and seminars for parents, including consultation, counseling, and educational guidance.
‘Nik and Toyo,’ Elmer Borlongan (b. 1967)
Seven lots (Lots 68 to 74) from the September auction are being sold for the benefit of MovEd, all through kind donations from collectors, the artists’ families, and the artists themselves, in support of the organization’s mission.
In Nipa Hut Madonna Manuel Rodriguez Sr., the Father of Philippine Printmaking, reinterprets the traditional image of Madonna and Child in a distinct Filipino way.
Anita Magsaysay-Ho’s Women with Christmas Parols, a 1991 pen-and-ink drawing, and the 1990 crayon drawing Women with Flowers showcase Magsaysay-Ho’s view of the Filipina of her era.
‘The Predator and Prey’ (2011), Anton del Castillo (b. 1976)
In Elmer Borlongan’s Nik and Toyo, a familiar face appears—the man who’s become the signature image of his art. He’s holding his pet dog, a mundane yet powerful scene of everyday life.
Madame and the Butterfly highlights Plet Bolipata’s whimsical figurative art.
Lui Medina painstakingly uses graphite to create an abstract piece that reduces landscapes into their most basic, in Untitled (After Notion of the Edge I).
Anton del Castillo’s The Predator and Prey completes the line-up.
After almost 15 years since its establishment, MovEd now has 16 Learning Labs: five in the National Capital Region, 11 in Camarines Sur. Formed to help children, MovEd continues its mission to reach more children.
