Singer-songwriter Adjeng returns with Teka Preno Muna, a groove-filled pop-soul track that encourages listeners to slow down and think before rushing into life’s biggest decisions. Set for release on July 24, 2026, at 12 am, the single blends pop, soul, funk, and jazz into an effortlessly easy-listening experience, delivering an infectious groove anchored by a message that feels especially relevant in today’s fast-paced world. The track will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, TikTok, and all major digital streaming platforms.
The release marks Adjeng’s first solo single in nearly a year, following her 2025 collaboration Good Versus Better. It also opens a new chapter after her 2024 album Unravel, a collection of solo singles she wrote and released throughout the pandemic alongside two new tracks. While her previous work leaned into pop with touches of R&B and nostalgic ’90s influences, Teka Preno Muna expands her sound with a richer blend of pop, soul, funk, and jazz, all delivered through a fully Tagalog composition.

Adjeng continues to embrace timeless songwriting built on warmth, sincerity, and relatable storytelling.
Inspired by the music of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, Adjeng continues to embrace timeless songwriting built on warmth, sincerity, and relatable storytelling. Those influences come through not only in the song’s melodies, but also in its musicianship.
Supporting her on the recording is a roster of respected session musicians. Acclaimed saxophonist Michael Mark Guevarra adds expressive alto saxophone lines, while veteran drummer Junjun Regalado provides the song’s irresistible rhythmic backbone. Ardie de Guzman contributes smooth guitar work, Soc Mina anchors the arrangement with pulsating bass lines, and longtime collaborator Krina Cayabyab returns with her signature backing vocal arrangements and harmonies.
The recording also reflects the collaborative spirit behind the project. Vocal coach Sushi Reyes encouraged Adjeng to adopt a more conversational vocal approach, allowing the lyrics to feel more natural and intimate, while sound engineer Andrew Guevarra helped shape the polished, vibrant production.
At the heart of Teka Preno Muna is a message that feels increasingly relevant: In a world that often rewards speed, sometimes the wisest move is to pause.
“The concept has been marinating in my mind for a long time,” says Adjeng. “The opening line, ‘Wala ako sa mood makipaglokohan… Marami-rami na rin akong napagdaanan,’ came from hearing the frustrations that so many people, including myself, have been expressing over the past several months.”
Those shared experiences eventually evolved into the song’s memorable chorus: “Teka, preno muna! Bakit ba kailangan laging magmadali?”
More than a catchy hook, the refrain encourages listeners to pause before making life-changing decisions. Inspired by the familiar Filipino saying, “Nasa huli ang pagsisisi,” the song reminds people that wisdom often comes from resisting the urge to rush.
“As a parent, I’ve come to appreciate messages that speak life, honesty, and integrity,” she explains. “I’ve experienced life from different perspectives now, and I wanted to write something that reminds people to think before they leap.”
While the lyrics explore meaningful themes, the music remains warm, uplifting, and instantly memorable—a balance that has become one of Adjeng’s trademarks. “I like strong messages wrapped in interesting earworm packages,” she says.
That same philosophy guided the recording sessions. She credits arranger Arnold Buena for capturing the soulful, easy-listening sound she envisioned from the outset. When she invited a trusted group of seasoned musicians to join the project, each immediately agreed to take part.
Their shared commitment mirrors one of the song’s central ideas, expressed in its bridge:
“Kung basta-basta ka lang sasabak sa laban na di mo man lang pinaghandaan, pasan-pasan mo lang mga bagay-bagay, maaaring di mo kailangan…Baka di mo makayanan. Bumwelo ka kaya muna diyan.”
For Adjeng, assembling collaborators she trusted became a real-life reflection of the song’s message about preparation, patience, and surrounding yourself with the right people.
“Having people I completely trusted gave me the right bwelo before releasing another single,” she says. “Everyone involved wears their heart on their sleeve and gives their best. You can hear that in the recording. It was everyone’s A-game from start to finish.”
That sense of joy is evident throughout the finished track. Despite its reflective message, Teka Preno Muna radiates optimism and musical chemistry, making it equally suited for casual listening and thoughtful reflection.
Ultimately, Adjeng hopes listeners leave with more than just a memorable melody.
“The title itself says it all,” she says. “Take a pause. Take stock of what’s happening. Move with wisdom before making plans or big decisions. Sometimes slowing down today can save you from a lifetime of regret.”
