Siberian Husky Kiara and Golden Retriever Bambi with the dog-friendly carrot cake
After the holiday celebrations, there’s more time to treat our loyal companions—our furry pets, who have been with us through the years.
Chef RV Manabat, known in social media and for Chef RV Café in Biñan, Laguna, has developed a carrot cake recipe for pet owners and furbabies to enjoy. He assures this is dog-friendly.
Chef RV, a De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde graduate and a master’s degree holder from Boston University in the US, creates recipes with easy-to-source Filipino ingredients, and shares them online on his Facebook and YouTube channels, so his subscribers can try them out in their own kitchens.

Lerry Dela Cruz with pets Kiara and Bambi
“We always spend the festivities with our two dogs, our Golden Retriever Bambi and Siberian Husky Kiara. So they can also enjoy a festive treat, I developed this dog-friendly Carrot Cake recipe. It uses yogurt and honey, which are good for dogs,” he said.
“We serve it two ways. The whole cake, garnished with almonds on the side, is for humans, while the mini cakes, nut-free, are for the likes of Bambi and Kiara to enjoy.”
