World theater artist and Grammy nominee Christine Allado, best known for her breakout role in Hamilton, returns to the Manila stage in The Bodyguard The Musical, the performance which will open The Proscenium Theater at Rockwell in September. This is the first production at The Proscenium Theater, with its 780-seat capacity and state-of-the-art facilities, whose opening has been much awaited.
Filipino-born Allado will play Rachel Marron, the iconic role popularized by Whitney Houston.
Allado was in the original West End cast of Hamilton as Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds.
She has performed alongside Andrea Bocelli in sold-out arenas across Europe and Asia, and starred in The Prince of Egypt and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights.
Filipino talent takes center stage in the 9 Works Theatrical staging of the musical. With her crystalline vocals and commanding presence, Allado plays the role once defined by Whitney Houston. That she portrays this character in her home country makes this production not just a milestone for Rockwell, but also a proud moment for Philippine theater.

Beyond Hamilton, Allado has starred as Julie Jordan in Carousel, performed in We Will Rock You, and starred with Lea Salonga and Bernadette Peters in the original West End run of Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends at the Gielgud Theater. She has appeared in major productions at the Royal Albert Hall, on Netflix, and the BBC. This year, she is set to lead the West End premiere of Jo: Little Women The Musical.
