KNetizens have yet to move on from Doctor Slump, the top-rated series of Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye, two of the most accomplished actors in K-drama. This drama/comedy of romance has an engaging plot—about two of Korea’s brightest students who became doctors, then hit rock bottom, and how life’s tragedies turned these two erstwhile student rivals into lovers in adulthood—acted out with such endearing realism by Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye.
Park Hyung Sik, without a doubt, is a most versatile actor who’s good at comedy, drama—and definitely, swoon-worthy roles.
Metro Manila just had its one big swoon moment with Park Hyung Sik when the Korean star was here last February 17 for SIKcret Time in Manila Asia Tour Fan Meet. Yet this went beyond a fan meet after the actor committed to have a beneficiary for the event—the Save the Children Philippines. This lent meaning, impact to the fan meet organized by MQLIVE, presented by Smart, in partnership with P&STUDIO and TONZ. MQLIVE with P&STUDIO and TONZ chose the international child rights organization as its official beneficiary.

“Save the Children Philippines expresses its sincerest gratitude to Park Hyung sik, along with his fans, the organizers, promoters, and sponsors of SIKcret Time in Manila for choosing our organization as the official beneficiary of the event,” said George de la Rama, director of Advocacy, Campaigns, Communications and Media of Save the Children Philippines.
“This is the first fan project to ever actively support Filipino children in need and for that we are forever thankful.”

De la Rama recalls that since 2006 when he started attending Korean concerts, fan meets, and events, in that long history, this is the first time he encountered a famous Hallyu actor who wholeheartedly offered his support to help Filipino children affected by inequality and discrimination.
Born with vision impairment, Eshell Rose Duyan was one of the thousands who watched SIKcret Time in Manila. She is a member of Future Vision Home in the City of Taguig, one of the 12 organizations of persons with disabilities that Save the Children supports through rights-based development and child participation.
“For me, the highlight was meeting Park Hyungsik in person. He inspired me when he told his story that he wanted to be a police officer when he was young, but fate eventually led him to become a famous actor instead. I dream of becoming a model or flight attendant, but I know that with my condition, it may be impossible. However, like Hyungsik oppa, I want to believe that God will provide what’s best for me,” said Eshell, 20.
The donation from SIKcret Time in Manila will help support Save the Children’s initiatives in securing Filipino children’s rights and ensuring their continued learning, survival, and protection.
“To Park Hyungsik, please continue your good work. I wish for you to come back to Manila and for all of us to meet again. Thank you also to Save the Children and the event organizers MQLIVE, P&STUDIO and TONZ as well as the fan project lead PUBLICITYASIA for giving me an opportunity to meet Hyungsik oppa and for being an instrument for people to know our organization, Future Vision,” said Eshell.
For MQuest Ventures Inc. president and CEO, Jane Basas, the maiden event of MQLIVE was yet another opportunity to serve the Filipino audience with passion and purpose.
“We are grateful to Park Hyungsik, P&STUDIO and TONZ for giving us the opportunity to make the Filipino SIKcrets happy,” said Basas. “I would also like to thank Save the Children Philippines for giving us the opportunity to support their cause. I hope this is the first of many more advocacy-led partnerships between Save the Children and MQUEST.”

Park Hyung Sik receives his fulfilment band from Save the Children Philippines director for Advocacy, Campaigns, Communications and Media, George Oliver de la Rama, as symbol of his commitment to creating a safer, fairer, and better future for children.
