Craving for steak, I checked out this resto from The Devil Wears Prada—now in Manila

Rib-eye, lobster mac and cheese—a visit to Smith & Wollensky Manila

When a steak craving hits, I don’t mess around. So when I heard that the renowned New York steakhouse Smith & Wollensky has finally opened in Manila, I knew exactly where my next meal was going to be after three hours of pickleball. Yes, the steakhouse that made a cameo in The Devil Wears Prada is now just a reservation away.

I started with the Crab Cake—huge chunks of crab meat served with a cognac mustard and ginger sauce that adds just the right punch.

Let’s talk about the main event: the USDA Prime 28-Day Dry-Aged Bone-In Rib-eye. It was everything I hoped it would be—intensely flavorful, beautifully charred, and cooked to perfection. I couldn’t resist going all in for my Sunday cheat day, so I added the Roasted Bone Marrow as a steak enhancement. No regrets. It brought a rich, velvety layer to an already indulgent cut.

For sides, I went with the Lobster Mac and Cheese—creamy, comforting, and generously topped with chunks of lobster. It’s the kind of dish that makes you pause between bites just to savor the richness. And of course the Creamed Spinach (I forgot to take a photo), that will always accompany my steak whenever available.

And just when I thought I couldn’t eat another bite, out came the legendary Gigantic 10-Layer Chocolate Cake. Yes, it’s as dramatic and delicious as it sounds—definitely shareable, but I won’t judge if you keep it all to yourself. (Actually this is what we came here for, if not the steak.)

Don’t miss the Gigantic 10-layer chocolate cake!

I arrived hungry and left happy—and maybe just a little obsessed.

What’s your favorite steak place?

Smith & Wollensky  is located at The Finance Centre Building, 26th Street, cor 9th Ave, Taguig, Metro Manila.
