Kultura’s Filipino Design Studio showcases local artistry

Fourth edition of the pop-up event runs until March 17 at SM Aura

Envisioned as a hub of inspiration and community, Filipino Design Studio at Kultura aims to spotlight distinct Filipino talent and to empower community artisans, mixing established names and emerging brands in a platform to showcase their new collections.

Filipino Design Studio presents a diverse group of guest brands and social enterprises alongside Kultura’s house labels, amplifying the narrative of each one and allowing its message to resonate with a growing market with a heightened awareness and appreciation of Filipino design and craftsmanship. There are handmade apparel and accessories, home decor, aromatherapy and natural remedies.

Filipino Design Studio heralds the Philippine summer. The brands were selected based on their commitment to employing marginal populations and underserved communities, and implementing sustainable practices.

Social enterprise and personal care brand Dwellbeing employs members of the deaf community and uses upcycled packaging. Slow, sustainable fashion is created by The Brave Story. There are handmade laptop sleeves by Woven.

There are labels showcased at Kultura for the first time: statement jewelry from Strozzi and Piesa; resort wear and modern Filipiniana from Seek The Uniq, Pina-Sadya, and Bagoyan; nature-based personal care from Pure Culture and Dwellbeing; and stylish slip-ons from Jhaz Footwear. There will also be handmade accessories and apparel from Woven and Brave Story.

Fashion inspired by Filipino heritage and islands

Bagoyan

Bagoyan showcases modern, handwoven apparel inspired by Kalinga heritage and tradition. The Brave Story is a lifestyle brand that embraces slow fashion, creating apparel from repurposed local textiles in limited quantities. Jhaz Footwear features variety of handmade slip-on shoes crafted from indigenous materials like abaca and jute.

Seek The Uniq

Seek The Uniq offers vibrant, resort-ready clothing featuring tropical prints and unique silhouettes.

Pinas-Sadya

Pinas-Sadya is one-of-a-kind clothing featuring traditional weaves such as Binakol and Inabel, made to start conversations about Filipino heritage.

Summer-ready accessories

Anmari makes high-quality bags handcrafted from natural materials such as sabutan, buntal, raffia, and rattan. Ash & Muff offers handcrafted pouches and bags made for gifting. Boho Manila is for vibrant, bohemian-style statement jewelry handcrafted by Filipina mothers. Casa Mercedes is for handmade abanicos with original designs by local artists from the Philippines’ oldest fan maker.

Piesa

Piesa is a homegrown brand of handcrafted accessories, including statement necklaces, earrings, and stackable cuffs. Sombrero Manila makes locally-crafted hats made using natural, eco-friendly materials, including buri and raffia. Strozzi Jewelry is handmade statement jewelry, featuring Pinoy-themed designs and styles. Woven makes handmade accessories and home items for the modern Filipino lifestyle, by local artisanal communities.

Wellness routine essentials

Dwellbeing is a natural, small-batch personal care brand that gives back to a hunger relief program.

Pure Culture

Pure Culture is biocompatible skincare crafted from responsibly-sourced, biotech ingredients. Shepard makes sustainably-packaged personal care products made using botanicals indigenous to the Philippines. Soapsuds and Buds makes gentle yet effective personal wellness products, using only skin and environmentally-friendly ingredients. Yoga Love offers mindfully-made personal care and wellness essentials that use naturally derived ingredients.

Tropical ‘tahanan’

Beyond Borders is known for handwoven throw blankets and wraps highlighting the beauty and craftsmanship behind Abel weaving. Casa Juan collaborates with Filipino artists to showcase our unique culture through home accessories and dinnerware.

Liwayway

Liwayway is trendy apparel and homeware influenced by the diverse culture and traditions of the Philippines.

Malingkat Weaves

Malingkat Weaves are handwoven home items and accessories, with a special focus on Mindanao the tradition. Millie Monday creates everyday items from the home, with original artwork inspired by our tropical islands. Our Little Ideas makes colorful handwoven blankets and towels by skilled Bicolano artisans.

Red Slab Pottery

Red Slab Pottery mobilizes community members of Victoria, Tarlac, through contemporary, ethnic-inspired pottery.

Wix Cozy Homes

Wix Cozy Homes is a homegrown, hand-poured candle brand promoting self-care through aromatherapy.

11th Earth

11th Earth’s eco-friendly home decor and accessories include hand-loomed beach towels and upcycled bags.
