Chef Lovely Jiao, the innovative baker behind Sugarplum Pastries’ head-turning eight-foot-high dessert towers, light anti-gravity cakes and “plumgineered” twirly-whirly rotating toppers, has concocted toothsome treats called the Sweetest Nightmare, a commemorative series just in time for Halloween.
Its centerpieces are the Witch and Vampire Wicked Cakes, with bodies of moist chocolate. A wooden mallet unearths a head-smashing surprise of assortments of candies.
The Giveawayay is a dainty package filled with all-time favorite snack bars, an assortment of monster-inspired biscuits and cookies, lollicakes, chocolate pops, and gummies. These are trick-or-treat baskets full of goodies.
Boo-Do Kit, the comeback of the crowd favorite season-inspired cookie-dos, features decadent naked sugar cookies in the shapes of a cat, a witch’s hat, and a pumpkin. Kids can decorate the D.I.Y. pack which includes three piping bags in violet, orange, and black, as well as a variety of delectable sprinkles and candies.
The tempting Enchanted Apple is mouthwatering chocolate in the form of a witch’s brew. A nod to an iconic Halloween tradition, a bite of it shows a secret underneath.
Chef Lovely has a culinary degree from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management (SHRIM) and has worked at Makati Shangri-La Hotel and F1 Hotel Taguig.
Through the years, she has stayed true to her philosophy—“No to boring desserts!”—and promises to only create the most enticing pastries to celebrate family time.
