FINALLY, after a seemingly endless wait, Filipino ARMY (that’s Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth, the global fandom of South Korean singing superstars BTS) will get to experience that most hallowed of remote fan experiences: a pop-up store filled with photo zones, visuals, and most important, BTS merchandise!
In October 2019, “House of BTS” pop-ups appeared in several cities, though sadly, not in Manila. Finally—perhaps after realizing that PH ARMY is pretty determined; we were third place globally in helping propel the band’s new single Butter to record-breaking new heights—a BTS Pop-Up: MAP OF THE SOUL, inspired by the MAP OF THE SOUL:7 studio album, will officially open on May 29, Saturday, at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong. Manila follows Seoul, Singapore, and Thailand in opening the store, which will open in Malaysia and Taiwan after this.
If it’s any indication of how stoked fans are, the store has wisely made visits by reservation only to allow for continued safety and social distancing—and slots are already filled up until the first week of June. Fortunately, the pop-up will stay open until August. Fighting!
